Welcome!

On February 8, 2010, Boy Scouts of America turned 100 years old!  This year will be full of opportunities to celebrate the centennial year and connect with those Scouts of the past.  If you are a young man between 11 and 18, stop by and pay us a visit. Troop 73 would be honored to have you join our ranks.

Are you interested in camping, hiking, canoeing, fishing and backpacking; these along with over 100 other possibilities can be yours while involved in Scouting.  We normally meet at the youth hut or the fellowship hall of Inman United Methodist Church on the first and third Tuesday evening at 7:00pm.

Some of our recent trips have included Summer Camp at Camp Old Indian in South Carolina, canoeing on the Flint River, sled racing at Camp Thunder; shooting a weapons simulator, conquering the obstacle course and jumping from the Airborne tower at Ft Benning; canoeing in the Ockefenokee Swamps; hiking in Tallulah Gorge; fly fishing on Dukes Creek and tubing down the Chattahoochee River.  All of this while learning to work as a team, cook for yourself and others, survive in the wilderness and even provide first aid.

Troop 73 was chartered to Inman United Methodist Church in 1991.  We have been a vital part of the community ever since.  Teaching the young men of Fayette County the values of Scouting, good moral character, physical fitness, service to the community and responsible leadership skills that they continue to use in daily life.

Thanks for visiting our site on the web, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime. You can reach me by email at rich_carmichael@yahoo.com or by phone at (770) 461-2791.

Yours in Scouting, Rich Carmichael

Youth Protection Training Update

Posted on Jul 8 2010 - 11:24am

Youth safety is the No. 1 concern of the BSA.

To increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting, the Boy Scouts of America is implementing several important changes to further enhance its Youth Protection policies.

We are still actively working on our site and getting everything loaded. We want this to be a functional site that provides Scouts and parents alike with all of the information that they need to be thoroughly informed.
